The Greater Central Jersey Clergy Association is a community of churches, ministries, Houses of Worship of different denominations, civic organizations and citizens committed to promoting positive change. We not only promote change, but we collaborate together to find solutions to the many problems that plague our community by partnering with local government, public school systems, businesses, media and our residents.
In 2009, after changing the name of the organization from The Concerned Urban Clergy of Plainfield and Vicinity, to the Greater Central Jersey Clergy Association, Inc., we expanded our borders and added non-clergy to our organization. It was an opportunity for our service providers to be an asset to our constituency.
We hold monthly meetings each first Tuesday of the month. There we discuss ways to implement our various initiatives that foster an opportunity to bring about positive change. In addition to initiatives to benefit the community in a positive way, we support the community in other ways. As an example, during the pandemic of 2020, the GCJCA presented a memorial service for the many lives that were lost during this trying time in our history. We honored over 400 individuals who passed, not only from COVID19, but from whatever source. It was our effort to help heal the wounds of grief for those who were not able to give their loved ones a proper good bye. Each year we also commemorate the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., by hosting a service in his honor. At that time, we present a person who has contributed much to the legend of Dr. King with a memorial plague for their service.
Our website www.gcjca.org provides a user- friendly opportunity for clergy and non-clergy to join, using either your credit card or PayPal. Payments can also be made by CASHAPP $gcjca. Members will have access to the latest information relative to the community and public events.
